About Zahra Jenab

Zahra has represented clients at the BC Provincial, Supreme and Appeal court levels and has acted as a mediator in family and child protection matters. She is a Law Society of BC accredited family law mediator, arbitrator and parenting coordinator. She is also on the roster of BC Hear the Child Society, and Child and Youth Legal Centre Roster Lawyer.

Zahra brings a strong understanding of how cultural factors shape conflict resolution. Through volunteer work and workshops with multicultural organizations, she has helped immigrants to Canada navigate the Canadian legal system. Her fluency in Farsi and experience with cultural and legal issues enable her to provide legal services tailored to her clients’ needs. Throughout the years, she has been actively involved in numerous cultural and social associations, advancing the interests of the Iranian-Canadian community. Zahra is the Chair of BC Hear the Child Society, a Director of West Vancouver Foundation, past Director of Access Pro Bono Society, and past President of the North Shore Bar Association. In 2017, Zahra was honoured to be a recipient of the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers.

Zahra also provides legal services in wills & estate planning.

Background

Zahra has a philosophy of practicing law with compassion. Following a Master of Arts degree in Political Science and International Relations, Zahra received her Bachelor of Law (LLB) degree from the University of British Columbia in 1994. She established her own practice in April 2000 on the North Shore, where she continues to work and live.

Zahra has always had a deeply rooted interest in non-adversarial resolution of legal issues with the consideration of the children’s best interest always being paramount. Her training in mediation, arbitration, and collaborative divorce provide her with the tools that she needs in assisting clients to reach the best possible solutions in family law situations. Zahra has extensive training and experience in interviewing and representing children and youth, and ensuring that their views are given due weight when determining what is in their best interest with respect to parenting arrangements.
